iphone-518101_640 (1)Using a cell phone doesn’t have to be all about wasting countless hours on social media outlets. We are living in a time where new apps are continually being made to make life easier and even improve our quality of living.

Are you looking to get smarter and use your time more wisely, while still being on your phone? Look no further.

Below are listed 5 free applications for both iPhone and Android users.

1. Memory Trainer.

Anyone and everyone can benefit from gaining a better memory and memorizing things better. It’s been proven that crossword puzzles can aid older adults in avoiding dementia, so why not start early on in life to keep the brain strong? This app is full of matching games and you can have fun while also improving your brains memory function.

2. Clockwork Brain.

This app is also full of different puzzles to choose from. Solving puzzles helps stimulate different areas of the brain and causes you to find a solution to different games. Learning does not have to be boring, it can actually be quite entertaining and fun!

3. Fooducate.

This application is helpful for any person who is living a healthy lifestyle, whether your someone who has been eating healthy for years, or someone who is just starting out their new healthy lifestyle. Learning what foods are healthy and nutritious for you has never been made easier. Now you can find foods that are not only good for you, but delicious as we’ll.

4. FlipBoard.

Flipboard makes it easy to keep track of what is going on in the world around you. You’ll be able to talk to your friends about new and upcoming news and even update friends on new stories of what is happening in various parts of the world.

5. Khan Academy.

I used this app back when I had to take a math prerequisite and it helped a ton. Whether you need help in mathematics, science, or computer science, this app is for you. Within this app, you basically have a personal teacher that creates a video to help you step by step to learn about a certain topic. I also found that this app is a bit more entertaining and thorough then most YouTube videos that explain subjects such as mathematics or science.

If you spend too much time on Facebook, my advice to you is to down one of these apps. Start spending more time stimulating the brain and getting smarter. Trust me, it’s a lot more fun learning from these apps than scrolling down your newsfeed.

Do you currently use any of the apps I’ve listed above? Can you recommend any other apps you use or have tried to stimulate the brain?
